Cebu Provincial Board Allots PHP72.3M Financial Aid To LGUs

The Cebu Provincial Board (PB) passed a resolution approving the release of PHP72.33 million in financial assistance to various local government units (LGUs) in the province.

The resolution, authored by Cebu PB Member Celestino Martinez and seconded by PB Member Carmen Durano-Meca, authorized Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III to grant and release financial assistance to the LGUs.

The financial assistance will be chargeable to the 20 percent Development Fund 2016 of the Office of the Governor.

The provincial government has an approved PHP3.6 billion budget for 2016, of which PHP520 million was set aside for the development fund.

Among the 11 listed recipient LGUs are Carmen, San Remigio, Tuburan, Tabuelan, Boljoon, Argao, Dalaguete, Alcoy, Oslob, Moalboal and Dumanjug.

Carmen, which got the biggest share, was granted PHP20 million for concreting of the provincial road from Cantucong to Upper Natimao-an and another PHP20 million for other roads.

The town also got PHP3.5 million for an Olympic-size swimming pool for provincial sports and cultural meets.

The financial assistance will be turned over the checks to the LGUs before March 25 or before the campaign period for the local elections. V
