Cebu Province on Red Alert For NYD 2019
Police Regional Office 7 (PRO 7) placed the entire Cebu province on red alert status to intensify security for the 6-day National Youth Day (NYD) 2019 on Monday, April 22, 2019.
PRO-7 Brigadier General Debold Sinas said that the police prepared heightened security plans to deter any bad elements from interrupting the event.
Brigadier General Sinas clarified that unlike this year’s Sinulog 2019, there will be no shutting down of signal during the National Youth Day as to help parents and relatives communicate with their children during the event.
Commander of the Task Force Cebu, Col. Noel Baluyan said the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) will deploy units to secure the young pilgrims and devotees who attending the National Youth Day 2019.
The pilgrims are discouraged to bring huge bags during the event, however, there are different items that are allowed such as the official bag, t-shirt, and identification cards.
Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) operations chief Francisco Ouano that they would reroute roads during event.
There will be about 100 traffic enforcers that will be deployed by CCTO during the events in order to assists motorists especially that road rerouting happens during peak hours.

Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma said he was grateful for the police and military for providing security in this year’s National Youth Day 2019.
Archbishop Palma encouraged the young pilgrims and devotees that will attend this year’s National Youth Day to cooperate with the policies implemented by the police in different events and report any suspicious elements.
About 12,000 young pilgrims will visit Cebu to participate in the National Youth Day 2019 that will start on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 to Sunday, April 28 2019. (ASC)
