Cebu Province, Korea Offer Livelihood Training
The Cebu Provincial Government, in collaboration with the Philippine-Korea Cultural and Educational Exchange Center, is conducting a week-long livelihood skills enhancement program led by Dr. Choi Hoon Young and Vice Governor Agnes Magpale.
Representatives from the offices of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) underwent training on nail art design conducted by a volunteer from the Philippine-Korea Cultural and Educational Exchange Center last Monday morning at Legislative Building.
Yesterday, participants were trained on how to make decorative rag dolls made from locally available materials.
Training for flower arrangement as well as hair cutting and styling are set for the remaining days of the week. Trainees is scheduled to learn Korean language on Wednesday and Friday.
Dr. Young’s goal is to train people from the government. He hopes that they will apply what they learned in the livelihood programs of the government. Young has lived in the country for more than 10 years and his heart is overwhelmed at how Filipinos have welcomed Koreans.
Young wanted to reach out to the Filipinos specially teenage mothers, the Kopinos (Korean-Filipinos), and persons with disabilities (PWDs). He cheerfully shared that many talented Cebuanos and Koreans are showing interest in volunteering for livelihood programs. He is hoping for the partnership with the province to continue.
Dr. Young invites the public to join the kimchi demo on Dec. 9 at the Legislative Lounge located at the 2nd floor of the Legislative building starting at 8 a.m.
Interested parties are required to pay PhP 50 registration fee for the ingredients. They can take home the kimchi after the training.(Cris de los Reyes, Cebu Province)
