Cebu Province Issues Memo for Typhoon Odette’s Arrival
Cebu Provincial Governor Gwendolyn Garcia has issued a memorandum last December 14, calling all mayors in the province to prepare for the coming Typhoon Odette.
“In the light of the upcoming typhoon “ODETTE” that is expected to reach Cebu on December 17, 2021, all mayors are enjoined to take all the necessary precautions and preparations for its arrival,” the memo reads.
The memorandum also reads that suspension of work in the Cebu province will be decided by the mayors if it is needed.
“The suspension of work and other measures may be implemented by the local chief executive, as the need arises,” the memo reads.
Odette just entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) today and has strengthened into a Severe Tropical Storm (STS).
As of December 15, STS Odette has maximum sustained winds of 110 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 135 km/h, and a central pressure of 980 hPa with strong winds or higher extending outwards up to 330 km from the center.
STS Odette was last spotted at 735 km East of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur moving West Northwestward at 25 km/h as of 4:00 AM today. (ASC)
