Cebu Province Extends Special Permits for Modern Jeeps in Cebu
Modern Jeepneys or Modern Public Utility Vehicles plying roads from the Cebu Province to Cebu City will continue as Cebu Provincial Governor Gwendolyn Garcia signed an executive order (EO) to extend their special permits from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
The special permits of modern jeepneys plying the roads of Cebu province to Cebu City expired last January 31, 2023.
According to EO No.5, the special permits of said modern jeepneys are extended to 45 days, from February 1 to March 17, 2023.
Here is the list of routes that special permits were extended:
Liloan to IT Park with 20 units
Consolation to IT Park; 20 units
Mandaue to IT Park; 10 units
Naga to IT Park; 20 units
Minglanilla to IT Park; 15 units
Minglanilla to Parkmall; 20 units
Talisay to IT Park; 30 units
Talisay to Parkmall; 15 units
The said EO aims to help commuters in the province have a more comfortable and accessible choice of transportation.
“There is an urgent necessity to allow these Modernized Public Utility Vehicles (MPUV) covered by the above-described Special Permits to continue plying the same routes to prevent any needless inconvenience and burden to the Cebuanos,” the EO reads. (ASC)
