Cebu Province Cyclists, Karatekas Shine Anew
Cebu Province cycling and karatedo teams continued to wax hot the cold terrain of Baguio City with two athletes of each squad winning their second gold medal in the Batang Pinoy National Championships on Wednesday.
Nicole Marie del Rosario and Jeanna Mariel Cañete blazed the track again in the cycling event, topping the road race 15-14 and 12-13 years old divisions.
Last Tuesday, the two cyclists each won a gold in the criterium race.
The karatekas also resumed their brilliance on the mat at the start of the kumite event led by Janine Narboada and Precious Avegail Belicario, who both won their second gold after snaring one in the kata competition last Tuesday.
Trexie Joy Ogoc rounded up the day for the karatedo team with a gold in the 11-10 years old 140cm division.
Marielle Estreba opened the day for the Cebu Province with a golden finish in the triathlon race.
As of Wednesday, the Cebu Province tallied 15 gold, 7 silver and 12 bronze medals.
Meanwhile, the Cebu Province settled for a silver in the futsal girls’ under-15 after losing to Tanauan City in their final match, 0-1. (CEBU PROVINCIAL GOV’T PR)
