Cebu Link Joint Venture (CLJV) and Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) recently
planted 3,000 Miapi seedlings in a 1.2-hectare area in Barangay Busogon, San Remigio, Cebu.
Some 30 employee-volunteers from CLJV, led by CLJV’s Environmental Manager Maria
Florentina Magistrado participated in the mangrove planting activity held in partnership with the
Busogon Farmers and Fisherfolks Association.

CLJV is a joint venture of Spain-based Acciona Construccion S.A. and Philippine-based First
Balfour Inc. and D.M. Consunji Inc. CLJV is responsible for building the 8.5-km Cebu-Cordova
Link Expressway which will connect Cebu City to the Municipality of Cordova in Mactan.

“Our deepest gratitude for PBSP’s assistance in planting the second batch of 3,000 mangroves
from the total of 12,000 mangroves required for our project,” said Magistrado.

This is CLJV’s second year of its four-year mangrove planting project with PBSP as part of their
environmental initiatives.

Ms. Magistrado further added, “The trees we planted will serve as a carbon sink to fight the
impacts of global warming and climate change, and will help reduce the intensity of waves,
storm surges and tsunamis, shielding the residents living and working along the coastline in San
Remigio from flooding, property damage and loss of life.”
