Cebu Joins National HIV Testing Day
On November 23, four (4) major cities in Cebu will join the National HIV Testing Day dubbed as “Know Your Status” (KYS) and Play (#KYSandPlay2019).
#KSYandPlay2019, which offers free, fast and confidential HIV test, is led by LoveYourself, Inc. and the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA), in partnership with several community-based organizations (CBOs) across the country that provide HIV-related services.
Interested individuals may register to bit.ly/KYSandPlay2019 and can choose among five testing sites in Cebu that will be participated in by LoveYourself, Inc., Bisdak Pride, and the Talisay City LGBT Bangaw Federation.
Various locations all over Metro Cebu will be used as testing sites and will accept anyone who wanted to get tested from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
In Cebu City, people can go to LoveYourSelf White House in #40 J. Llorente Street, Capitol Site and Bisdak Pride will have Atma Prema Community Center at Jasper Apartment M-5, Orchid Street, El Dorado Subdivision in Banilad.
In Mandaue City, LoveYourSelf will hold its screening activities at the Sunflower Bistro and KTV in Parkmall and Watever KTV at The Outlets in Lapu-Lapu City.
In Talisay City, the LGBT Bangaw Federation will spearhead testing activities at the Barangay Poblacion Park.
In the Visayas region, Iloilo City will also have two testing sites to be facilitated by the Family Planning Organization of the Philippines -Iloilo Chapter. Across the country, there will be five in the National Capital Region (NCR), four in Luzon, and three in Mindanao.
In the latest report of the Department of Health, there are 35 newly diagnosed HIV cases per day in the Philippines. Central Visayas is one of the regions with the highest number of HIV cases with 78 new ones in June 2019.
The nationwide event is also supported by Pilipinas Shell Foundation Incorporated, and AIDS Healthcare Foundation. (MLC)
