Cebu Cops Join Manhunt for Mayor Espinosa’s Son
The Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) has joined the manhunt for the son of Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr., who surrendered to Police Director General Ronald Dela Rosa on Tuesday.
Senior Supt. Jose Macanas, CPPO director, said police and other law enforcement agencies have been tasked to find Kerwin, if he refuses to turn himself to authorities.
There’s a possibility Kerwin might be in Cebu Province considering its proximity to Leyte, he said.
President Rodrigo Duterte last Monday issued an order, telling the Espinosas to surrender within 24 hours or risk being shot.
Reports said Mayor Espinosa also hailed from Barangay Hippodromo in Cebu City.
Macanas, who served as police chief of Ormoc City two years ago, confirmed Kerwin’s involvement in illegal drugs.
“I know Kerwin very well. Talagang involved yan sa drugs. Meron nga yang hotel, eh. (He’s really involved in the illegal drug trade. He even has a hotel),” Macanas said.
Macanas said they caught the younger Espinosa before with the assistance of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, but they had to release him after his cases were dismissed. (PNA) LAP/EB/EDS
