Cebu Cops Haul P13M Worth of Drugs in a Span of 3 Days
Police have seized some Php 13 million worth of the illegal drug methamphetamine hydrochloride, more popularly known as shabu, in a span of three days in buy-bust operations in Cebu City.
A joint team from the City Intelligence Branch (CIB) of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 7 arrested Marilou Sabello, 54, in a buy-bust operation Monday afternoon in Sitio Mangga, Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City.
The raiding team seized from Sabello a half-kilo pack, two medium packs and 42 small packs of suspected shabu, a .38 cal. revolver and Php 3,000 in suspected drug money from her house.
Some shabu still in crystal form were also found.
The illegal drug haul was estimated at Php 6 million, police said.
Supt. Romeo Santander, CCPO’s CIB chief, said the operation against Sabello came after the arrest of Emelyn Dingal, a suspected drug pusher in Barangay Duljo-Fatima, Cebu City, Saturday morning.
Santander said they believe that Dingal’s and Sabello’s supplier were the same.
Santander also said Sabello coulds sell at least 500 grams up to a kilo of shabu each week.
On Friday, police arrested a former police errand boy with some Php 7 million worth of shabu.
Police said Jonathan Cañada, 40, of Tres de Abril Street, Barangay Labangon, Cebu City, works for a man they consider a big target.
Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 Director Chief Supt. Prudencio Tom Bañas said Cañada was only one of the target’s underlings.
But Banas said the Civil Security Group identification card recovered from the suspect can no longer link him to the police as the CSG was disbanded a long time ago. (PNA) RMA/EB
