Cebu City’s Elderly to Receive Cash Aid

The more than 60,000 qualified Senior Citizens from the 80 barangays comprising this city will get their financial assistance tomorrow December 15, 2015 Tuesday.

In an interview with the BARUGG News, Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) head Domingo Chavez shared that the city’s elderly will get Three thousand pesos (P3,000) each as the sixth tranche to complete their P12,000 annual financial assistance this year.

The OSCA head enthuses that they will still follow the same system in the previous distribution citing that it will still be conducted in the Barangay Halls, Sports Complex and other convenient designated areas in the respective barangays.

He said that no authorization letters will be honored and the disbursing officers coming from the different departments of the city will hand personally to the bedridden beneficiary. He added that they coordinated with the village officials and workers along with the personnel from the Cebu City Police Office to ensure safety and security.

Asked for his message to his fellow Seniors, Chavez underscored, “I wish them a Merry Christmas and may they will enjoy the celebration together with their apos (grandchildren) and their Family.”

“I also also encourage my fellow Senior Citizens to be actively involved in the Senior Citizens organization sa ilang barangay kay para updated sila sa atong mga programa ug kalihokan,” he enthuses.

The city government here, meanwhile, has allocated 720 Million pesos this year for the financial assistance to its more than 60,000 Senior Citizens which was distributed by tranches.

Furthermore, Senior Citizens who cannot claim their cash aid tomorrow will be given a grace period to claim it in the Cash Disbursement Division in the City Treasurer’s Office, in Cebu City Hall. (Cebu City Public Information Office PIO/Greggy Jiggs P. Senados)
