Cebu City’s Coastal, Urban Clean-up Set on June 20

(Cebu City PIO) — With its aim to make this Queen City of the Philippines as livable, sustainable and smart city, the city government here headed by Mayor Michael L Rama through its Coastline Management Board and the City River Management Council will conduct its 39th Coastal Clean-Up and the 35th Urban Clean-Up on June 20, 2015 Saturday.

Thousands of employees from the city government and from the different villages will participate in the quarterly activity which are already assigned for the clean-up drive in various areas of the city.

Guided by his mantra which is to straighten what is crooked, clean what is dirty, beautify what is ugly, put fragrance on what is obnoxious and put an order on what is chaotic, the Cebu City Coastal and Urban Clean-up is a program of Mayor Rama which he started way back his stint as a City Councilor.

The program has become institutionalized and regularly conducted quarterly. This Saturday’s activity is for the second quarter this year. The opening salvo which will kick off at 6 o’clock in the morning will be conducted at the mouth of the Guadalupe River in Barangay Ermita.

Everyone is also encouraged to partake in the activity and likewise clean their own backyards and surroundings. Some private and civic organizations will also join in the activity. (Cebu City Public Information Office PIO)
