Cebu City’s 60,000 Seniors Get PHP3,000 Cash Aid

The Cebu City Government distributed Tuesday the last tranche PHP3,000 of the PHP12,000 financial assistance a year to the city’s some 60,000 senior citizens.

Cebu City Administrator Lucelle Mercado said the distribution of the cash aid, which was supervised by all City Hall department heads, was done in the barangays.

Acting City Treasurer Diwa Cuevas said the city has set aside PHP180 million for the last tranche of the cash aid for the senior citizens.

Cuevas said those who failed to claim their financial assistance Tuesday are given only until December 23 to get it at the City Treasurer’s Office.

Cuevas said a total of PHP10 million was also allocated for some 10,000 persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the city to be given on Thursday.

Their total approved financial assistance for this year is PHP5,000.

But the city will grant an additional cash aid of PHP1,000 to the PWDs after the Cebu City Council approved a resolution granting the additional amount. (PNA) LAP/EB/EDS
