Cebu City’s 10,590 PWD’s Get Php 1,000 Cash Aid

Cebu City’s 10,590 persons with disabilities (PWDs) on Sunday received their Php 1,000 financial assistance each, a day after the city distributed the cash aid for senior citizens.

Lea Japson, the city’s Department of Social Welfare and Services (DSWS) officer-in-charge, said the DSWS distributed the third tranche of the cash aid to the PWDs in collaboration with the Cebu City Treasurer’s Office (CTO).

Japson, a former city councilor, said the distribution was done in the city’s 80 barangays.

The city has allocated Php 60 million for PWDs, each receiving Php 1,000.

The amount forms part of the Php 5,000 total financial assistance the city promised each PWD for this year.

On Saturday, the city also distributed Php 2,000 financial assistance to each of the city’s 67,300 senior citizens.

The city has allocated Php 134.6 million for the purpose.

The city has a budget of Php 807.6 million for the financial assistance of senior citizens this year, an amount which is expected ot reach Php 1 billion next year. (PNA) RMA/EB/EDS
