Cebu City Village Chiefs Back Appointment of Cebuano Trader as Presidential Assistant for Visayas
The Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) and the Barangay Councilors’ League of the Philippines (BCLP) Cebu City are backing the appointment of a Cebuano businessmen as assistant of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte in the Visayas.
They also expressed support to the administration of incoming President Rodrigo Duterte.
In a two-page joint manifesto, the two organizations said they believe Michael Dino is fit for the job.
“He is a perfect choice considering his proven track record in business and development, not to mention his full grasp of volunteerism and people’s organization network that is instrumental in the success of Duterte’s campaign in the city,” they said.
The ABC and BCLP’s pronouncement came in the wake of a separate manifesto signed by 12 members of the “Duterte campaign team” questioning Dino’s appointment.
ABC and BCLP said Dino has been supporting the barangays and has been a benefactor of various projects and programs.
“Thus, he has established good will and rapport with all of us,” they said.
ABC president and Tisa, Cebu City Barangay Captain Philip Zafra said they have known Dino for a long time and that he has helped them in their outreach programs.
“We know his heart is for the barangays,” he said.
This was echoed by BCLP president and Kamputhaw Barangay Councilor Raymond Garcia.
“He has always been there for us. He always supports our programs and projects, but he will always tell me not to mention his name and he has not done that to other barangays as well. That is why he is very fitting to be the presidential assistant for Visayas. Dino is the right person for the job,” he said.
Garcia said the decision of Duterte to appoint Dino should be respected as it only means the president-elect has his trust and confidence. (PNA) LAP/EB/EDS
