Cebu City Tops in New COVID-19 Cases in PH
Cebu City is now once again the leading city in the country in terms of new COVID-19 cases.
Yesterday, January 26, the Department of Health (DOH) recorded 84 new COVID-19 cases in Cebu City. Davao City with 67 new cases, Quezon City with 47 new cases, Cavite with 51 new cases and Rizal with 41 new cases, are among those places where high COVID-19 cases were logged.
This marks the time Cebu City once again became the number 1 city in the country with new COVID-19 cases, after having ben able to flatten the curve as the government doubled down on imposing the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in Cebu.
After enjoying a greatly reduced number of COVID-19 cases in the months leading up to the end of 2020, Cebu City once again finds itself having a spike of infections of the pandemic.
Cebu City has now 986 active cases. Meanwhile, Cebu province registered 31 new cases yesterday making the active cases now at 553.
Cebu City, which was tagged as “COVID-19” hotspot in June-July 2020, also recorded 81 new cases on January 24, 2021 and another 70 on January 25 in the same year.
On January 23, the city had 97 new cases. This was the highest recorded cases since infection made it through double digits again. (MLC)
