Cebu City Targets Vaccination for 1.6K BHWs
The Cebu City government is targeting to vaccinate a total of 1,600 barangay health workers (BHWs), which started yesterday, March 24, in two vaccination sites.
For BHWs in the north district of the city, they received the vaccine at the University of Cebu (UC) Banilad campus while the vaccination of BHWs in the south district was held at the Robinsons Galleria mall.
Cebu City Health Department Head Dr. Jeffrey Ibones said that they are trying to maximize the vaccination where they targeted 1,600 BHWs and even health workers in private clinics.
The vaccine used for the mentioned health workers was AstraZeneca from the British-Swedish pharmaceutical company.
“We hope to fast track the inoculation of our healthcare workers in the coming days, as we aim to expand our vaccination program,” said Cebu city mayor Edgar Labella in his official Facebook post statement.
Labella also added that the city government is still trying to look for additional vaccination sites to hasten the process.
“Ang atong Vaccine Advisory Board padayon nga nangita og dugang vaccination sites gawas sa atong na-identify nga nasugdan na paggamit karong adlawa, (our Vaccine Advisory Board is continuously looking for additional vaccination sites aside from the ones we have started using today),” Labella said.
Cebu City Councilor David Tumulak further added that due to the determination and dedication of the health workers, the vaccination yesterday went smoothly. (MLC)
