Cebu City Supports eSports and Cosplay
Cebu City Mayor Tommy Osmeña makes it clear that eSports and Cosplay has his back. As eSports and cosplaying became popular to the youth, Mayor Osmeña said he will give his full support to the eSports and the cosplay community as the younger generation are passionate about it and may help them stay away from drugs.
Mayor Osmeña said in a meeting with Cebu eSports United that he is in full support to eSports and the cosplay community, “I am fully supportive of Cebu eSports United’s plan to gather all our Cebuano gamers at the grassroots level and use their passions as a means to prevent drug-use, educate youth to discipline themselves and manage their time wisely, and support the talents of both the gamers and the artists of the Cebuano gaming and cosplay community. Let it be known that from now on, they are recognized as the official partners of the Cebu City Government” he said in his Facebook Post.
The future is looking bright for the eSports and cosplay community here in Cebu City. The Cebu eSports United is looking forward for more events relating to eSports and cosplaying.
Cebu eSport United in partnership with Qualfon held a local DotA 2 tournament with a prizepool of P25,000. Qualifying games are held at the Voyager Internet Cafe, Sanciangko on June 23 and Station 751, Banilad on July 7. The finals will be held at SM City Cebu Tradehall 2 on July 14, 2018. (Aljun Cainghog)
