Cebu City Sets Jobs Fair for 2018

Thousands of job vacancies are available for both local and overseas in the upcoming Mega Jobs Fair at the Cebu City Sports Complex on May 1 for the 83rd Mega Jobs Fair; June 12 for the Kalayaan Jobs Fair; August 18 for the 84th Mega Jobs Fair; and October 27 for the 85th Mega Jobs Fair.

With its commitment to help job seekers in the city and employers in their manpower needs, the Cebu City government led by Mayor Tomas R. Osmeña, through the Department of Manpower Development and Placement or DMDP has scheduled several Jobs Fair for this year.

A Sectoral Jobs Fair which include the 3rd Call Center Jobs Fair last April 14; 1st Sales and Retail Jobs Fair on July 14; 11th PWD Jobs Fair on July 20; 1st Manufacturing Jobs Fair on September 8; and a Pre-Christmas Jobs Fair on December 1 has been scheduled.

Barangay Jobs Fair is also scheduled for the North and South Districts. For the North District one is scheduled on April 20 in Barangay Lahug, May 18 in Barangay Talamban, June 1 in Barangay Pahina Central, June 15 in Barangay Ermita, June 20 in Barangay Lusaran, July 5 in Barangay Adlaon, August 3 in Barangay Guba, September 28 in Barangay Day-as, October 5 in Barangay Malubog, and October 27 in Barangay Hipodromo.

For the South District, the Barangay Jobs Fair is also set on May 11 in Barangay Basak Pardo, May 25 in Barangay Labangon, June 8 in Barangay Tisa, July 27 in Barangay Kinasang-an, August 24 in Barangay Mambaling, September 19 in Barangay Poblacion Pardo, October 12 in Barangay Sinsin, November 16 in Barangay Bulacao, and November 23 in Barangay Bonbon.

The event is in coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 7 and the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).

DMDP chief Fidel Magno shared that they are hoping to help reduce the unemployment in Cebu City and address the job-skills mismatch thru their programs and initiatives, adding that DMDP is also holding a Special Recruitment Activity in their office every Wednesday.

Magno further advised job applicants to prepare and bring with them their updated resume and employment certifications (For Previously Employed), High School Diploma (For High School Graduates), and Transcript of Records (For College Graduates) if needed.
