Cebu City Opens Search for Outstanding Barangay Tanod 2014
To encourage the barangay peacekeepers to do their job and enliven their functions for the villages peace and order situation, the Cebu City Government is once again holding the “Search for The Most Outstanding Barangay Tanod of Cebu City.”
Now on its 10th year, the program is pursued in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Cebu-Guadalupe.
A grand launching parade will kick off the activity that will be conducted on November 8, 2014, from Fuente Rotunda to the Plaza Sugbo fronting Cebu City Hall.
All barangay peacekeepers from the 80 villages comprising this city are expected to partake in the annual activity.
Tanod chief, Chapel presidents, Unified and Parish security group (TCUP) coordinator Samson Dasoc, in an interview with the BARUGG News (Cebu City), shared that the search aims to acknowledge the role of the village peacekeepers and encourage to do their job well as frontliners of the peace and order situation in their respective barangays.
Dasoc added that the search has 3 levels such as barangay level, district level and the city level. He said that 20 winners will be selected for the barangay level from the 80 villages of the city which will compete to the district level.
At least 4 winners will be selected for the district level representing each district such as North Upland and North Lowland, and South Upland and South Lowland which will compete for the City Level, he said.
The winners will be selected by a panel of judges from the different sectors based on the application forms and supporting documents they submitted. Deliberation is set on November 29 for the Barangay Level, December 6 for the District Level, and December 13 for the City Level.
All winners will receive cash prizes and will be recognized during the awarding ceremony slated on January 8, 2015. (Cebu City – Public Information Office)
