Cebu City Mayor-elect Tomas Osmeña is set to take his oath of office before Vice President-elect Leni Robredo on Tuesday, June 28, at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) on Osmena Blvd., Cebu City.

Osmena said other elected members of the Bando Osmena Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK), including his wife, reelected Councilor Margarita Osmena, will also take their oath before Robredo.

Osmena said his inauguration will only last for 30 minutes, starting at 4 p.m. with Iglesia ni Cristo, Roman Catholic, Protestant and Muslim invocations of five minutes each.

He said his speech will only take three minutes and even if Robredo will have a speech as well, it will not take much time.

“All I want to do is thank the people who helped me. Thank the people who took (outgoing Mayor Michael) Rama’s money and voted for me,” he said.

Osmena said the ceremony “will be the cheapest inauguration in the history of the City of Cebu.”

“In my oath-taking, there’s just meat rolls, some fried chicken and juice. I’m paying for it so don’t complain,” he said.

“As usual for BOPK, this will not be a fancy event. No fireworks, no hauling in of people, no dress code or mandatory wearing of blue and yellow. Anyone and everyone who wants to join us is welcome to except government employees, unless they catch up after office hours,” he said.

“There’s no protocol and marching marines. No guest list, consuls, ambassadors, chamber of commerce, commissioners, police official. Nothing. If they show up, fine,” he said. (PNA) LAP/EB/EBP
