Cebu City Housing Project to Benefit 8,000 Cebuanos
The Cebu City South Coastal Urban Development Housing Project, which was inaugurated last February 27, 2023, is said to be able to house 8,000 Cebuanos.
The housing project is located at Barangay Basak San Nicolas in Cebu City. The beneficiaries of the housing project are informal settler families, low-wage earners in the city, and people living near danger zones in the coastal areas.
Most of these families will come from homes affected by the 3-meter easement zone of the 8 rivers and waterways in the city as well as along the coastal areas in the Cebu City South District.
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., who led the inauguration of the Cebu City South Coastal Urban Development Housing Project, said that the housing project will help provide a decent and comfortable home for Cebuanos.
“Isa po ito sa mga solution upang maibsan ang problema ng kakulangan ng bahay sa ating bansa at mabigyan ng disente at komportableng pamumuhay ang ating mga kababayan (This is one of the solutions to help solve the housing problem in the country and to give a decent and comfortable life to the Filipinos),” Marcos Jr. said.
Cebu City South Coastal Urban Development Housing Project is part of the flagship housing project of the Philippine government named Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino which aims to build six million housing units from 2023 to 2028.
“Ito po ay isa sa mga inisyatibo at flagship housing project ng gobyerno sa ilalim ng Pambasang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Housing o ang 4PH na pinangungunahan ng Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD). Layunin po nito ng programang ito na makapagpatayo ng isang milyong pabahay sa bawat taon ng aking termino bilang pangulo (This is one of the initiative and flagship housing projects of the government under the Pambasang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Housing (4PH) led by the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD). The program aims to build one million housing project every year during my term),” Marcos Jr. said.
Marcos Jr. said the government is working to address the 6.5 million housing backlog in the country. (ASC)
