Cebu City Gives Food to 350 Flood Victims
The city government has given food assistance to at least 90 families or 350 individuals from Sitios Little Pasil and Mabugnaw of Barangay Kamputhaw, Cebu City whose houses were swamped with flood water on Friday.
The families were left with no food to cook after the floodwater brought about by the heavy rain last Friday got inside their houses and destroyed their food stocks and appliances.
“There was destruction of food stocks. Their rice got wet and their appliances were destroyed, that’s why their meat inside their refrigerators got spoiled,” Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office Head Nagiel Bañacia said.
Department of Social Welfare and Services Head Vivian Nardo said their office sent out personnel to oversee the distribution of food assistance and validation of the affected families on Saturday and Sunday.
Aside from the two sitios in Barangay Kamputhaw, the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CCDRRMO) also received a report on a minor landslide in Sitio Tanay, Barangay Pulangbato.
A part of a slope on an ongoing road concreting construction gave way.
Bañacia said no one was hurt or died in the incident.
“There was soil loosening due to the construction but it’s nothing serious and there was no need for a relocation because it’s already been cleared,” he said. (PNA) SCS/EB/RSM
