Cebu City to Ban Alcohol, Outdoor Parties on Sinulog
This early Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña is already hinting that there will be no alcohol and outdoor parties in next year’s Sinulog.
In his Facebook post, he said he was already preparing an executive order (EO) for it, wherein alcoholic drinks and street parties will be prohibited along the parade route.
“No alcohol or outdoor parties anywhere near the parade route. If you want to sell alcohol or organize a party, we will help you set up in the SRP where there are no residents to bother,” Osmeña said in his Facebook post.
In his draft EO, the reason for the ban is for peace and order and to maintain the “sanctity” of the Sinulog. It can be noted that over the last years, street parties were known to have incidents like stampedes and fist-fights among the party-goers. Last year, Osmeña ordered some bar establishments closed following reports of too much noise and other violations.
Under this new EO, if signed, no entertainment of any forms will be allowed within the 300-meter radius of the parade and procession routes. Included in this ban are concerts, events, gigs, street parties, loud speakers, and audios.
