Cebu City Activates Disaster Body For Sto. Nino Procession, Sinulog Parade
The Cebu City Government has activated the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (CCDRRMC) to respond to any emergency during the solemn procession of the Senor Sto. Nino de Cebu on Saturday and the Sinulog grand parade on Sunday.
Cebu City Councilor Dave Tumulak, who chairs the CCDRRMC, said both events draw hundreds of thousands of people and the city government should be ready to address all emergencies during the twin events.
Tumulak said all of the city’s workers involved in disaster and emergency response will be on duty on Saturday and Sunday.
”No leave of absence will be allowed. This is our tribute for the Sto. Nino,” he said.
Tumulak said at least 22 ambulances manned by doctors, nurses and paramedics will be deployed along the routes of the solemn procession and the Sinulog parade.
Medical kits, first aid kits, including intra-venous (IV) fluids) have been distributed to the emergency responders.
Tumulak said they will prohibit the bringing of glass bottles and canned soda along the routes to avoid these from being used as weapons in case trouble erupts.
Earlier, Sinulog organizers banned the drinking of liquor and other alcoholic drinks along the parade route. (PNA) LGI/EB/EDS
