Cebu Chamber, Canadian Chamber Sign Cooperation Pact
The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (CanCham) signed a memorandum of cooperation (MOC) last Dec. 3, 2013.
Organized as representatives of business to support, protect and promote each of the Chamber’s business interests, and enhanced by establishment and strengthening cooperation between the two Chambers, the pact seeks to plan and implement the said cooperation by certain appropriations.
These are to foster friendly and continuing cooperation between the two chambers; to exchange information and perspectives on business and economic conditions in Cebu and in Canada, business opportunities and ways and means for international trade, foreign investment, transfer of technology and skills, and mobility of human resources, on challenges and issues if common interest to business communities represented by the two Chambers.
Organized as representatives of business to support, protect and promote their respective business interests; and with the business interests enhanced by establishment and strengthening of cooperation between the two chambers, the memorandum of cooperation also appropriates to advocate the development and maintenance by the authorities of a pro-business regulatory environment that supports business and economic development. The pact also includes to extend advice and assistance to each other as may be appropriate and as each chamber is able to provide in the particular circumstances; send representatives to each other’s Annual General Meeting and other meetings as may be appropriate in order to deepen the relations between two organizations and to better understand each organization and its membership; and to consult annually including a review of the past year’s cooperation; an indicative plan of cooperation activities for the year ahead; and an assessment of extent to which cooperation is achieving agreed objectives.
Present during the signing of MOC were members of the media, CCCI President Lito Maderazo, CCCI Executive Director May Elizabeth Segura-Ybañez, CanCham President Julian Payne and Executive Director Cora dela Cruz.
