Cebu Capitol JOs, Contract Workers Get Pay Hike
Job-order (JO) workers and contract of service (COS) employees, including doctors hired as such, of the Cebu Provincial Government have started receiving their salary increase on Jan. 1 this year.
Cebu Gov. Hilario P. Davide III through Executive Order (EO) No. 1 Series of 2019, which was also approved by the Provincial Board during their regular session last Jan. 28, ordered the implementation of the fourth tranche of the salary increase for doctors working at the provincial and district hospitals and the third tranche of salary increase for other JOs and COS employees working for the Cebu Provincial Government.
The salary increase for JOs and COS workers is seen to attract more competent and committed contract employees to work in the Capitol, as the rates it is offering is as competitive as to the ones being offered by the private sector, read the governor’s order.
Since 2016, regular and casual employees who are working for the government have been receiving their salary increase pursuant to Executive Order 201, dated Feb. 19, 2016 issued by former president Benigno Aquino III. It is implemented by the Department of Budget and Management through the Local Budget Circular 118.
The salary will be implemented by tranche. The fourth tranche has been set to be implemented this year.
According to Davide’s EO, a regular or casual employee will receive the fourth tranche of their salary increase as mandated by the President’s order, while the salary rates of JOs and COS will be increased pursuant to the governor’s order, which is equivalent to the third tranche received by regular/casual employees.
Provincial Accountant Ramon Dumayac said Capitol employees have salary grades corresponding to their respective positions. They have simultaneous increases for every tranche but are granted different rates depending on their salary grades. (Cebu Provincial Capitol)
