Cebu Business Backs K to 12 Job Fair
The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) signed a statement of support for the K to 12 program last July 10 at the Southwestern University.
The statement was signed by CCCI president, Mr. Virgilio Espeleta and was witnessed by Ng Khai Development Corporation Executive Vice President and former CCCI president Ms. Melanie Ng, PBEd Chairman Mr. Ramon del Rosario Jr., and PBEd President Dr. Chito Salazar.
The statement of support is made concrete by the chamber’s active involvement in PBEd’s First Future Project, an affirmative hiring initiative which aims to encourage companies to open their doors to K to 12 students and graduates through work immersion and employment opportunities.
Under the First Future initiative, CCCI is co-organizing and encouraging its member companies to participate in an immersion and employment caravan exclusive for senior high school, where students and graduates can apply for work immersion and employment opportunities through an on-site job fair. The event will be held at the Activity Center of Robinsons Galleria Cebu on July 16, Tuesday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
The partnership affirms the private sector’s commitment to further youth employability in the region. Previously, the Chamber also linked with PBEd for YouthWorks PH, a five-year workforce development project that aims to make education and training more responsive to the needs of the economy by working with the government, industry and academe to provide opportunities to youth not in education, employment, or training.
