Cebu-based Dance Group Won in Korea
In this year’s The Powerful Daegu Festival in South Korea, a Cebu-based dance group took the top spot in the festival.
The Department of Tourism congratulated the Tribu Lumad Basakanon for winning the top spot in the said festival.
Tribu Lumad Basakanon performed the “Sinulog”, an ethnic dance which is usually performed during Sinulog Festival.
The newly appointed Secretary of the Department of Tourism, Christina Garcia Frasco lauded the Tribu Lumad Basakanon for their achievement on the international stage.
“The Tribu Lumad Basakanon has proven that Filipinos are indeed world-class performers. The group brings pride to the Philippines, and contributes greatly to our country’s efforts to highlight our rich cultural heritage through festivals,” Frasco said.
Frasco added that Tribu Lumad Basakanon’s victory in South Korea would help showcase the country’s rich culture and heritage.
Sinulog is one of the biggest festivals in the country that has drawn foreign tourists from across the world to experience Sinulog. (ASC)
