Cebu and Visayas Named Best Islands in Asia
Condé Nast Traveler’s (CNT) 2020 Readers’ Choice Awards has named Cebu and Visayas Islands as the Best Islands in Asia.
Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said in a press release that the country is blessed with beautiful beaches, mountains, and landscapes and thanked CNT for recognizing Cebu as the best in Asia.
“The Philippines is indeed blessed with the best of nature, as exhibited by the consecutive accolades we are receiving from reputable and prestigious publications for our islands and beaches. This latest citation from CNT gives us in the Department of Tourism (DOT) a boost of confidence, as we continuously carry out our strategies to gradually reopen domestic tourism, to once again welcome travelers from other countries when things become better,” said Secretary Puyat.
Cebu and Visayas counted as one entry for the award.
Cebu was followed by Sri Lanka in second place and Ko Pha Ngan in Thailand at third.
Meanwhile, Palawan (4th place), Siargao (5th place), and Boracay (6th place) also joined the top 10 in the Asia list.
In last year’s Condé Nast Traveler’s (CNT) Readers’ Choice Awards, the Philippines also held three top spots on the list, namely Boracay in the first place, Cebu and Visayas in second, and Palawan in fourth place.
Condé Nast Traveler’s (CNT), the luxury and lifestyle magazine of Condé Nast Publications, has invited 600,000 travelers to vote online for the Top Islands in six areas, namely Asia, Australia, and the South Pacific; the Caribbean and the Atlantic; Africa and the Indian Ocean, Europe, and North America.
