CDA Celebrates National Cooperative Month
During this month’s celebration of the national cooperative month, the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) called out big co-ops to help small co-ops to engage in more business opportunities.
The national cooperative month is based on proclamation no. 493 which was implemented during former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s time.
Nora Patron, Regional Director of CDA-7 explained that the national cooperative month is one of those times where people can recognize them as one of the major role player in the society.
“Ang Co-op importante sab ni siya pagsugod because the good beginning will determine your future (Co-ops are important because the good beginning will determine your future),” said Patron.
Patron also said that there are a lot of co-ops registered but only few really did their part as a cooperative.
“Daghan man ang nagpa rehistro pero ang pangutana if na apply ba nimu imung pagpa rehistro isip co-op? (There are a lot of co-ops registered but the question is did you apply your role as a co-op?),” Patron said.
Patron also explained that co-ops can help people in need using certain funds and they also have various programs like “Co-op Kapatid” which aims to let bigger and millionaire co-ops to help smaller co-ops to basically boost their credibility and effectiveness.
The National Cooperative Month started on October 2004 and until this very day co-ops still celebrate it every month of October. (MLC)
