CCPO Reminds Cebuanos on Election Gun Ban

With the May 2019 elections fast-approaching, it is always a must to implement a gun ban in the Philippines to prevent any bad elements in planning to disrupt a peaceful elections.

Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) reminded the people on the Election Gun Ban from January 13 to June 12, 2019.

It is prohibited to carry even licensed firearms during this period, transporting of firearms, explosives, spare parts and raw materials. Politicians are also warned against hiring bodyguards.

Some areas of Cebu City will be monitored closely especially those places who have a high rate of election violence.

The Philippines National Police’s issuance, processing, approval and releasing, and permits to carry firearms will be suspended along with mission orders and memorandum receipt of law enforcement agencies.

Violators will face penalties such as 1 year to 6 years imprisonment, permanent disqualification from public office and the revocation of the right to vote, and deportation if the offender is a foreigner. (ASC)
