CCMC Sets Soft Opening of Interim Hospital Today
(Cebu City PIO) — There will be a new set-up in the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) starting March 5, 2015 Thursday.
This as the soft-opening of the CCMC interim hospital which is the building formerly occupied by Cebu City Traffic Operations Management (Citom) located at the N. Bacalso Avenue will be conducted tomorrow.
A Holy Mass and the blessing of the different parts of the building will be offered to kick off the historical activity at 10 o’clock in the morning. It will be followed by the ceremonial ribbon-cutting.
The CCMC interim hospital will be utilized as an administration building and OB/Pedia Ward, while some parts of the nearby Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP-7) building will be used as CCMC Annex for internal medicine and surgery, among others.
Looking back, the CCMC was transferred to the BFP-7 building also in N. Bacalso Avenue after it was severely damaged by the 7.2 magnitude earthquake in October 2013. Last year, it was downgraded from Level 2 hospital to Level 1 by the Department of Health because of its unfavorable condition in the BFP-7 building.
The former Citom building is now newly-renovated for a new CCMC interim hospital to provide better services to the Cebuanos and in an attempt to upgrade the CCMC status from Level 1 hospital to Level 2.
Meanwhile, to date the city government is doing its best to construct a new, modern and world-class yet affordable hospital that will soon rise in its original site. The proposed ten-storey building for a People’s Hospital will be constructed on a 6,423 square- meter lot and that would cost P1.5 billion.
Moreover, for the uninformed, the Citom is now occupying the former office of the Department of Public Services (DPS) at the 2nd Floor of Ramos Multipurpose Building in Barangay Cogon Ramos, while the DPS is now located in the South Road Properties.
