CCLEX Sets Guidelines for 125cc to 399cc Motorcycles
Traffic measures for motorcycles 125cc to 399cc traversing the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) have been set in place and will take effect on July 2, the day the said motorcycles will be allowed in the new 8.9-kilometer modern toll expressway that connects Cebu City and the Municipality of Cordova.
The Cebu Cordova Link Expressway Corporation (CCLEC) said that the expressway is a traffic discipline zone and standard traffic and safety regulations are strictly implemented.
CCLEC President and General Manager Allan G. Alfon said that the measures are put in place to make sure everyone will have a “pleasurable” use of the expressway.
“The welfare and safety of motorists are our utmost priority. The measures we have put in place are meant to make sure that all our motorists will have a safe, seamless, and pleasurable journey while using the expressway,” Alfon said.
Motorcycles 125cc to 399cc shall traverse CCLEX with a speed limit of 40 kph on the main bridge and curves, and 60 kph on the causeway.
Moreover, the said motorcycles are asked to only use the designated motorcycle lane, located on the right and marked with blue.
Overtaking shall not be allowed at all times in the expressway.
Meanwhile, motorcycle owners are also required to wear proper riding attire provided for under Republic Act 10054 or the Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009.
CCLEC also prohibits the wearing of flip-flops, sandals, slippers, or being barefoot.
For motorcycle owners who will have back-riders, back-riding will be allowed so long as only one back-rider will be on the passenger’s pillion. Moreover, children may be able to back-ride so long as they will be provided helmets and can comfortably reach the motorcycle’s standard foot peg as per Republic Act 10666 or the Children’s Safety on Motorcycles Act of 2015.
Motorcycles carrying loads, however, will not be allowed to traverse the expressway as it will block the side mirror and will cover the taillight and signal lights.
CCLEC is also asking motorcycle owners to do their standard checking of motorcycle essentials such as tires, controls, lights, oils, chassis, and stands before traversing the expressway. (GFB)
