“We are happy to see the support and patronage we have received since we opened our expressway. We look forward to serving more motorists in the years to come,” Alfon said.

According to Alfon, the average daily users of CCLEX have increased from 6,000 daily at first launch to 12,500 daily.

Out of the 12,500 daily CCLEX users, mostly comes from the Class 1M or motorcycles with engine displacements of 110cc to 399cc and Class 1 vehicles or motorcycles with 400cc engines, cars, jeeps, pick-up trucks, and small vans.

It can be remembered, that initially, only motorcycles with 125cc to 399cc engines were allowed to pass at CCLEX, which started last July 2 of last year.

Eventually, due to the requests of Cebuano motorists, the Cebu Cordova Link Expressway Corporation (CCLEC) allowed 110cc motorcycles to traverse CCLEX in the country after additional safety features were installed last September 14, 2022.

CCLEX also become a huge part of the recovery of tourism and the economy in Cebu, after the pandemic.

Philippine Retailers Association Cebu President Christian Paro-an said the longest cable-stayed bridge in the country has made traveling within Cebu more convenient.

“CCLEX has made it more convenient for people to go around Cebu. The increased mobility is good for business, especially retailers because it brings increased foot traffic to our stores. It also makes it easier for us to move around our products,” Paro-an said.

CCLEX has also hosted major sporting events during its first year, especially the Ironman 70.3 Philippines and the Cebu Marathon.

A temporary food park was also introduced in CCLEX while the permanent Drive & Dine facility is still under construction. (ASC)
