CCLEX Almost Halfway Done
The much awaited Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) is almost halfway done with the construction completion at 45.35%.
CCLEX will connect Cebu City to the Municipality of Cordova. People from all around Cebu expressed their excitement on social media as the expressway will slice the travel time enormously.
The construction of CCLEX is still on going despite the pandemic, the contractors are now working on the bridge deck and upper pylon on the main bridge’s two towers.
The installation of NU-girder at Cebu South Coastal Road (CSCR) is still ongoing with tandem cranes working on it.
Also, 19 out of 29 lifts for the towers’ pylons and portal frame concreting have already been completed.
Remaining columns and headstocks for CSCR and piling works are still ongoing. 20 units of vent pipes will also be scattered to equalize the seawater in the Cordova Channel.
Launched in 2017, CCLEX is expected to be substantially completed in late 2021 where two lanes per direction will serve motorists who wish to traverse from Cebu City to the Municipality of Cordova and vice versa without the need to pass through Lapu-Lapu City or Mandaue City.
CCLEX is also expecting a 50,000 vehicle passage per day. CCLEX has a design speed of 80 kilometers per hour (kph) and a height of 51 meters to allow large vessels to pass underneath.
Aside from traffic reduction, CCLEX is also seen to boost tourism and other greater economic opportunities for Cebu and the rest of the region. (MLC)
