CCCI To Elect New Set of Officers for 2015
The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) will hold its annual election of officers this February 27, 2015 at Hotel Elizabeth.
There are nine open positions to be filled in this year’s election of the chamber’s Board of Trustees. Two are needed in the Industry sector, three for Trade, three for Service and one for Sectoral.
To run for any of the respective positions, one must be a bona fide member of CCCI in good standing meaning that members with accounts incurred on or before December 31, 2014 and which remain unpaid as of 5:00 pm of February 26, 2015 shall not be allowed to be voted upon for the CCCI Election of Trustees. The same goes with those who will vote, only members in good standing shall then be allowed.
Those who are running for election are required to pay their annual dues for 2015 and all other prior assessments on or before 12:00 noon of January23, 2015.
Voting shall be by secret ballot. The official or alternate representative of members in good standing shall be the only qualified voter for the election. Deadline of submission of ballots at CCCI office will be on or before 6:00 pm of February 23, 2015.
For lost ballots, replacement shall be granted by the CCCI Commission on Election (COMELEC) only upon receipt of a formal written request for such action on or before 12:00 noon of February 27, 2015.
Opening of the ballots will be at 2:01 pm on February 27, 2015 wherein it will be validated and authenticated at the same time by the members of the CCCI COMELEC. Canvassing shallalso be administered by the COMELEC in the presence of designated external auditing representatives.
Tallying and canvassing of votes shall begin promptly after the ballots have been validated. The proclamation of the winning candidates shall be done by the CCCI COMELEC immediately after the ballots are counted and the results certified by the External auditors.
Official candidates qualified to run for election per sector for the 2015 Elections of CCCI’s Board of Trustees are named. Two nominees are contending to represent the industry sector namely: Teodoro Locson Jr. of Philmetal Products, Inc. and Enrison Benedicto of Mabuhay Filcement, Inc…
For the Trade sector, official nominees are Christian Paro-an of RC Goldline Sale Shop; Robinson Uy of La Nueva Drugstore Chains, Inc.; and Melanie Ng of Ng Khai Development Corporation.
Whereas,six candidates are vying to represent the chamber’s Service sector namely: Atty. Tomas Riveral of OPASCOR; Elsie Tagupa of Land Bank of the Philippines; Remedios Marie Esparcia of MCRI Global Corporation; Jimmy Wu of Graphicstar Imaging Corporation; Jerry Tan Uy of Ocean Transport Group of Companies, Inc.; and Fr. Dionisio Miranda of the University of San Carlos.
On the other hand, only Nimrod Quiñones of the Philippine Society for Industrial Security (PSIS 7) is running for the Sectoral/ Association sector.
