CCCI Thanks Mayor Rama
The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) expressed its gratitude to Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama for its immediate action on the congestion crisis at Cebu International Port.
Last March 4, CCCI led by former Vice President for External Affairs Consul Antonio Chiu attended a conference organized by the Cebu City Hall to address the port congestion concerns raised by different stakeholders such as shipping lines, cargo handlers and businessmen. The said conference was also participated by some members of the chamber such as the Association of International Shipping Lines, Inc. (AISL), OPASCOR, PhilExport and Cebu Truckers Association.
As an offshoot of the meeting, Mayor Rama headed a Pre-Lenten Walk last April 5 together with all the stakeholders of the Port of Cebu to assess the extent of the congestion as well as plan for improvement. The early morning walk started at Pier 1 and ended at the CPA Complex.
Furthermore, to decongest traffic in the port area as well as provide more space in the port, Mayor Rama has allowed the Cebu Port Authority (CPA) to lease a City-owned portion of a lot in North Reclamation Area. (Contributed Photo)
