CCCI, DOT Holds Briefing on New Accreditation Standards for Hotels & Resorts

In line with its mission to be the vehicle of progress for Cebu’s businesses through the Cebu Business Month 2013, the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Department of Tourism (DOT) brings the briefing on the “New Accreditation Standards for Hotels, Resorts and Apartment Hotels” on June 20, 2013, 1:00 p.m. at the Sarrosa International Hotel.

Under the TOURISM thrust and in cooperation with DOT, the activity aims to maximize awareness on the minimum standards for accreditation and the appropriate rules and regulations governing the operation of primary and secondary tourism enterprises.

Pursuant to the authority vested in the DOT by Republic Act 9593 otherwise known as the National Tourism Act of 2009, the department issued MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 2012-02 on the rules to govern the mandatory accreditation of accommodation establishments to promulgate the national Accommodation Standards that prescribed the set of requirements and standards needed for the operations and maintenance of accommodation facilities catering to foreign and local tourists.

Maria Rica C. Bueno, Director of Tourism Standards and Regulations of the Department of Tourism will be the resource speaker to brief the players on new standards governing the industry.
