CCCI, BOC, CCBI Sign MOA to Seal Partnership
A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed between the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), the Bureau of Customs (BOC), and the Chamber of Customs Brokers, Inc. – Cebu Chapter (CCBI) on the fifth of May 2016 at the CCCI Board Room.
The signing of the MOA was led by CCCI President Melane C. Ng together with BOI OIC Collector Atty. Rico Rey Francis “Koko” Holganza and CCBI – Cebu Chapter President Jose Jefferson Bajao. It was witnessed by OPASCOR Representative Atty. Ann Page and PISFA President Carmel De Pio-Salvador.
“We are very pleased to formalize our partnership with the BOC and CCBI – Cebu Chapter to improve the processing and releasing of imported shipments in the port of Cebu in order to facilitate trade and lessen incidence of port congestion.” CCCI President Melanie Ng declared.
To speed up the release of shipments, the BOC Commissioner Bert Lina has announced on the ninth of March 2016 that the Bureau will be open hours daily.
Thus, the MOA formalizes the operational guidelines that facilitate the processing and releasing of shipments that are done after regular hours (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM). It also provides security measures in order to assure that the provision of the Tariff and Customs Code of the Philippines (TCCP), as amended and other related laws, rules, and regulations that are strictly enforced and will not be compromised.
