CCCI And Partners Conducted “Food Safety Awareness Seminar For Food Vendors”
A total of 80 food vendors from Larsian and Cebu South Bus Terminal attended the “Food Safety Awareness” seminar organized by the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Germany’s AFOS Foundation for Entrepreneurial Development Cooperation and the Philippine Department of Science and Technology through its “Optimizing & Upscaling Roles in the Food Supply and Value Chain” (OURFood) Program in cooperation with the Cebu City Government and the Office of the Provincial Governor on February 18, 2016 at the Cebu Rajah Park Hotel, Fuente Osmeña Circle, Cebu City.
Food Safety is the assurance that food will not cause harm to the consumer when it is prepared and/or eaten according to its intended use.
In her message during the seminar, Cebu City Councilor Mary Ann de los Santos, Chair of the Health Committee of the Cebu City government emphasized that food safety equates to public health and that the knowledge on sanitation, hygiene and food safety is vital to all food service operations to guarantee that the food being served remains safe to eat.
