The Cebu Breastfeeding Club (CBC) joins the worldwide breastfeeding activities last August 2, 2014.

CBC President Kristy King Luy said during the Tapok-Tapok Media Forum at the Cebu Business Hotel along Colon Street, last week.

Luy said that Ayala Business Center is the venue for CBC active members who will join the worldwide activities.

This is the first time for CBC, which is existing more than three years, to join this worldwide affair and she anticipating 20-50 CBC active members to be with the activity.

According to Luy all breastfeeding mothers will simultaneously breastfeed their babies within one minute starting at 10:00 in the morning.

This is just to show that “whether you like it or not breastfeeding gives the best of health for both mother and child and we Cebuanos are positively believe this fact”, Luy added.

She said that a breastfeed child has a quality of good health both physical and mental.

“Majority of breastfeed children are keen and bright and possess strong physique”. Luy said.

The quality of much closer relationship between mother and child can be traced through their closeness during breastfeeding.

Their closeness from child birth up to three to four years is enough to prove that their true love within each other is being established, she said.

Luy stressed that it does not follow that if the mother is sick the breastfeed child is also sick.

“Even if the mother has a cancer, it does not follow that her child is also having the same illness”, she said.

Luy stressed that breast milk is an effective cure to all kinds of human diseases, so if a mother has fever, “of course her child could not avoid to suffer the same because of their closeness and that is not because of her breast milk but its because of their close physical contact,” she added.

Luy said that there is already a law, Republic Act 128 requiring every child bearing mother to breast feed their child but the CBC will not force every mother to follow the law.

“We are in a democratic country so everybody has the right to enjoy what he/she thinks is good for him/her even it is no longer alongside with the law”, Luy said.
