At least 150 children-evacuees in the City of Naga, Cebu were treated to a day of fun and entertainment by a group of young employees from the Cebu Provincial Capitol on Friday, Nov. 9.

Held at the Naalad Elementary School, the children enjoyed various games and prizes plus the snacks prepared by the 32-member Capitol Citizenship Leadership Academy (CCLA).

The outreach program was organized by the CCLA members, in partnership with the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI). They distributed packs of toys, school supplies and food packs to the beneficiaries.

Dubbed as “CCLA and RAFI Children Outreach Program,” leadership academy members, mostly young Capitol employees from different departments, are undertaking various projects like the one held in Naga as part of their leadership enhancement.

The 150 children-beneficiaries are among the hundreds of residents displaced by the Sept. 20 tragic landslide in Sitio Sindulan, Barangay Tinaan, City of Naga that left 78 people dead.

These children are temporarily sheltered at the Naalad Elementary School, which served as their evacuation site at night time and a learning facility during daytime.

Headed by Earl Campo, an employee of the Capitol’s Human Resource and Management Office, CCLA first sought the permission of the school for their outreach program. A registration of the beneficiaries was also initiated at the school gymnasium where the activity was held. (Cebu Provincial Capitol)
