How can one avail of the free rabies vaccination of the Cebu Provincial Government? Here are the steps:

The Province through the Provincial Veterinarian’s Office (PVO) conducts free rabies vaccination from time to time in the local government units (LGUs).
If the dog owner misses the offsite vaccination activities of the province, he or she may go to the city/municipal agriculture office anytime to get his/her dog vaccinated.
The Capitol also offers free rabies vaccination through the PVO anytime.

Dr. Mary Ann Gabona said Republic Act No. (RA) 9482 or the “Anti-Rabies Act of 2007” mandated the Department of Agriculture and Department of Health to provide adequate supply of vaccines for both animals and humans.

RA 9482 also required LGUs to augment the supply of vaccines in their localities. The province also required the LGUs under its jurisdiction to enact and implement anti-rabies laws.

This year, Gabona said the Capitol allocated P1 million for the purchase of 3,600 vials of rabies vaccines alone. She added that the target this year is to vaccinate 207,000 dogs or 80 percent of the total dog population in the province.

The Capitol joined the whole nation in observing March as National Rabies Month. It is currently conducting dog vaccinations, vitamin supplementation, deworming, spay and neuter, and consultation for free. The activities will run until April.

This remaining schedule is March 30-31 in Moalboal, April 7-8 in Argao, April 13-14 in San Remigio,April 19-20 in Tudela, and April 21-22 in Poro.
