Capitol Opens Gutlang-Ubaob Concrete Road in Argao
Cebu Governor Hilario P. Davide III, Vice Gov Agnes Magpale and second District Congressman Wilfredo Caminero formally inaugurated the P35 million worth of farm-to-market (FMR) road project in Argao town on Wednesday, June 14.
The concreted road project that connects the hinterland barangays in Argao is among the national projects implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) through Congressman Caminero.
Davide said the project allows comfortable access to farmers in transporting their produce towards Argao’s central town. The road stretches from Barangay Gutlang to Barangay Ubaob.
“Maayo kaayo ang pagkabuhat sa dalan, dili na mo maglisod, ug ang pagsaka ug kanaog gikan sa lungsod sayon na lang kaayo,” said Davide.
Aside from the road project, a P1.918 million-infrastructure project was also turned over to sitio Balde, Barangay Cansuje in Argao with Barangay chairman Marciano Agrabio.
Moreover, a roofed gymnasium worth P2 million was inaugurated in Barangay Balaas, a mountain village located 25 kilometers away from Argao town proper.
Magpale, for her part, said the national government recognized the importance of gymnasiums as an alternative evacuation centers in time of calamities.
“Usahay papilion ang barangay kapitan unsa may imong gustong unahon nato ang dalan o ang evacuation center (roofed gymnasium). Kung mahimo moingon ang kapitan, dunganon. Kung dili mahimong dunganon naana ‘na sa mga tawo kung unsa ang ilang priority,” Magpale said.
The governor and vice governor, together with Caminero and PB member Jose Salvador and Argao town councilor Marcy Glen Lucero attended the ceremonial ribbon cutting. Engr. Randy Villaflor represented Argao Mayor Stanley Caminero.
DPWH engineers Edna Manatad and Lolet Castro also attended the formal opening. (Oscar Pineda)
