Capitol Inaugurates Road Concreting Projects in Sogod

Capitol officials inaugurated Php 3 million worth of road concreting projects in the municipality of Sogod last March 24.

These are three separate road concreting projects in Barangays Cabangahan, Mohon and Lubo. The barangay captains considered the roads as ‘farm-to-market corridor’ since their livelihood is mainly farming.

Speaking to the villagers, Governor Hilario P. Davide III said these are the basic services that they have rightfully demanded from the government.

“Kining dalan dili ni (gikan) nakong (kwarta). Sa Kapitolyo ning kwarta nga gigamit (sa pagpasemento niini)…Kay misaad man kami kaninyo sa among pagpangumpanya nga kaning kwarta sa lungsod ibalik diha kaninyo isip paghatod sa mga (This project is not mine. This came from the Capitol… As promised we are just giving back the people’s money through the delivery of) basic services,” he said.

Vice Governor Agnes Magpale and Provincial Board Members Jude Thaddeus Durano-Sybico and Miguel Antonio Magpale were also present during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The funding was downloaded to the municipal government that implemented the projects. The newly-concreted roads have 200 meters in length, four meters in width and six inches in breadth.

Mayor Lisa Marie Durano thanked the governor for the projects. Though the projects only covered 200 meters of road, she said they will continue the projects in phases.

Davide also stated that he would appropriate more funds for the projects.

Mohon Barangay Captain Gina Montejo said they really needed the road concreting because some portions of the road are not passable during rainy days.

“Di jud makaagi ang mga sakyanan kay moatras man tungod sa katangason ug kadangug panahon sa ting-uwan (The vehicles themselves just backpedal when it rains as the road becomes slippery and muddy,” she said.

Vice Governor Magpale said the funds are really tight for the Capitol since 2013 because of the typhoons that caused damage both in the north and in the south.

Thankfully, she said, the governor was still able to set aside some funds for Sogod.
