The Cebu Provincial Government submitted the requirements to get Php 200 million worth of infrastructure projects from the Department of Agriculture (DA).

Dr. Roldan Saragena, officer-in-charge of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA), said the projects will be funded by the World Bank under the DA’s Philippine Rural Development Program (PRDP).

He said they have already submitted three feasibility studies of proposed farm to market road concreting projects to the Regional Project Advisory Board (RPAB) for PRDP.

“Hopefully, if there will be no objection from RPAB during its presentation, we can get Php 200 million worth of farm to market road projects for 2014 alone,” said Saragena.

The proposed projects are Agujo-Tapilon, Daanbantayan road; Anonang Sur, Bogo City-Lambusan, San Remegio road; and Dapdap, Bogo City-Batad San Remigio road. This would cover 20 kilometers of road. It is estimated to cost Php 10 million per kilometer.

As a counterpart to the PRDP, the province is required to contribute 10 percent of the total amount of projects. For 2015, Saragena said the Capitol earmarked Php 50 million counterpart money for another PRDP projects. This will assure the province of more or less Php 500 million worth of PRDP projects next year.

Under the PRDP, the local government units were asked to identify areas viable for farm to market roads. The proposed project will be reviewed by the province. It will then be submitted to the RPAB, which is the screening authority of the PRDP projects.

This year, the local government units that were being prioritized to get PRDP projects were those affected by super typhoon Yolanda (international name: Haiyan).

Aside from PRDP-based projects, the agriculture office also allocated Php 30 million for more links in the towns of Tudela and Tuburan.

Half of the Php 30 million was already downloaded to Tudela.
