Capitol Eyes Rebidding Unfinished Hospitals
The Provincial Capitol is now planning to have the abandoned provincial hospital opened for rebidding so that it can continue its construction.
“We are studying the possibility nga ang mga abandoned project para ma-rebid nato…to continue the construction,” said Gov. Hilario Davide III in an interview with the media.
Davide said there still a lot of work to do for Danao and Balamban Provincial Hospital after they were abandoned by contractors when his administration stopped all the payments for lack of a Provincial Board approval to the project contracts.
“Naay uban wap-a nahuman kay lain-laing aspects sa construction gi-sub contract. But we intend to finish these hospitals kay usik kaayo. Daghan maka-benefit nga mga kaigsuonan,” he said.
The governor said he has already consulted his legal attorney Orvi Ortega on this matter. Davide said they are studying how they could possibly reopen the project without getting entangled with legal issues, especially that there is no formal document from the contractors that they have permanently abandoned the projects.
“(We will) possibly formally communicate with contractors. I will also need the support here of the Provincial Board,” he said.
The construction of Danao Provincial Hospital was stopped after Davide refused to settle the balance with the project contractor, Supreme ABF Construction. The project started during the term of former Gov. Gwen Garcia, who Davide said had signed the contract with Supreme ABF for this hospital with. PB approval.
The same situation has also happened in Balamban Provincial Hospital, which WTG Construction and Development had shutdown for the same reason.
