Capitol Equips CPH-Carcar With P14.8-M Laparoscopy Tower
Minimally invasive surgical procedures can now be performed at the Cebu Provincial Hospital (CPH)–Carcar with the Cebu Provincial Government’s recent acquisition of a P14.8-million laparoscopy tower and machine comprising of an arthroscope and endoscope.
“Ang technology karon nag-move na away sa mga incisions nga dagko. Although, traditionally naa man gyu’y surgical procedures na kinahanglan gyud nga samaran but daghan na pud mga procedures karon na pwede lili-on na lang,” said Dr. Rene Catan of the Provincial Health Office(PHO).
With the goal of providing access to the best healthcare services for all Cebuanos across the province, this laparoscopy machine is made available for all.
With the newly-acquired medical equipment, procedures like lapasroscopic surgeries, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, and arthroscopy can be made available to all Cebuanos province-wide.
The equipment, according to Catan, is also of equal importance in complementing the skills of the province’s surgical team.
“Ang mga internists, naay gastroscopes; ang mga obstetricians, naa sila’y laparoscopes; and then arthroscopes for our ortho specialists,” said Catan.
Considered as beneficial to most patients, laparoscopic surgical procedures entail less cuts and minimal incisions. Hence, patients experience less post-operative pain. Most importantly, they recover and return to normal lives faster, said Catan.
“There’s less bleeding, less morbidity,” he said.
The Cebu Provincial Government, through the Provincial Health Office, continuously provides the modern technology and equipment to cater to the ever-changing needs of patients in the province.
“Now that we have this capability, we can offer more services not even offered by other hospitals in the island province,” said Catan.
Under the administration and Six-Key Development Agenda of Gov. Hilario P. Davide III, healthcare is given utmost importance.
“We will also do the same for the other provincial hospitals. Ato lang gi una ang Carcar kay mao may gihimong model nato for the other hospitals, which is why we’re equipping it with modern facilities and equipment. Gani hapit na pud moabot ang atong CT scan. Months ago, we inaugurated our first ever ICU, and Danao will follow soon,” said Davide. (CEBU CAPITOL)
