Capitol Employees Taught on Coaching with a Hearth
Employees of the Cebu Provincial Capitol underwent a “Coaching with a HEART” seminar to create a positive working environment. It was conducted by the Learning and Development Section of the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) from November 16 – December 15 at the Cityscape Tower 2 Uptown and Cebu Grand Hotel.
This half-day workshop aimed to support the continuous development of the people skills of the Capitol personnel. Over 900 employees attended the said workshop in different schedules so as not to affect the overall operations.
It highlighted Capitol’s core values Honesty, Work Ethics, Accountability, Social Responsibility and Transparency (HEART) to remind the participants of the importance of genuine public service.
The seminar involved a refresher on the previously-conducted “Service with a HEART” workshop and introduction of several concepts on effective communication cycles and styles shown through group activities and participatory discussions.
The facilitators designed the workshop to incorporate techniques in effective coaching in parallel to the re-activation of the Performance Management Team and its Technical Working Group (PMT-TWG) of the Capitol earlier this year.
The Strategic Performance Management System (SPMS) is one of the 4 HR systems that forms part of Civil Service Commission’s (CSC) Program to Institutionalize Meritocracy and Excellence in Human Resource Management (PRIME-HRM).
This program aims to continuously capacitate agencies in the performance of their human resource management functions, recognize best practices, and serve as a venue for exchange and development of expertise among practitioners.
Currently, the Cebu Provincial Government is processing its accreditation as a fully-functional Level II agency.
Coaching with a HEART workshop schedules will continue in the early part of 2017 for all personnel in the provincial and district hospitals.
This is also in support of the Changing Hospital Efficiency and Effectiveness for Responsiveness and Sustainability (CHEERS) through Technology, Employees, Ancillary equipment/Engineering, Medical Services, and Safety (TEAMS) mission and strategy of the Cebu Provincial Health Office.
